About
Let me introduce myself.
Carolyn Mueller
Carolyn was very involved in sports and recreation from an early age. She played soccer at a competitive level through college and continues to play weekly here in Chicago. Before moving to Chicago, she directed summer soccer leagues in her hometown of Badin, NC, conducted private soccer conditioning sessions for high school athletes, conducted youth strength training as well as female high school athlete strength and conditioning sessions, and instructed fitness classes such as body pump as well as fitness aerobics for those with developmental disabilities. She also helped host numerous running events in her area.
Her experience with special populations started while working with several individuals that had physical disabilities at her local YMCA . This sparked her interest in investing more time to learn how to work with a population group in need of highly trained fitness professionals.
She was fortunate to land an internship with the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, formerly known as the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (“RIC”) in 2007. Upon completion of graduate school, she returned to Chicago as the Fitness Manager overseeing the programs at the Adaptive Health and Fitness Facility for 5 years. She continues to have a working relationship with the healthcare team at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab.
She went back into the corporate gym environment at Lakeshore Sport and Fitness as a Specialist in her area of personal training for 5 years and then to the East Bank Club as a Coach where she currently provides services in addition to her private clientele.
Other experiences include her background in advanced exercise testing such as VO2max testing and body fat measurements using a variety of equipment and testing protocols. She was invited to be part of a team that conducted VO2max testing on the Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Wolves hockey teams from 2011-2015.
Today, Carolyn continues to work with a very diverse clientele of athletes, general and special populations. She offers a variety of services including in-person, online and virtual coaching sessions.
